Western Journal reported Friday that President Donald Trump replaced White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles with Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.

What AP has said about Miller

According to the Associated Press, “Miller is a dogged defender of Trump and his ‘America First’ principles, and has built a deep and sophisticated understanding of a president’s executive power and how the federal government operates, portending a potential burst of executive actions in the final two years of Trump’s presidency,” as quoted by Western Journal.

Praise from conservative commentators

Conservative activist Ryan Fournier wrote on X, “BOOM. Trump just named Stephen Miller as White House Chief of Staff. While the media thought he’d soften up, Trump put the ultimate America First warrior in charge to double down on our borders and our agenda. No compromises. No backing down. Get ready, folks!”

Conservative commentator Todd Starnes posted on X, “EARTHQUAKE: President Trump names Stephen Miller as his new chief of staff. This is a bold and brilliant move. Trump is sending a message that he is doubling down on the America First agenda.”

Democratic pushback

Rep. Robert Garcia issued a statement blasting the selection, according to the Associated Press: “Just days after the American people rejected his corrupt and lawless presidency, Donald Trump is doubling down. Stephen Miller is the architect of the unconstitutional ICE raids that have terrorized our communities and kidnapped and killed American citizens and immigrant families.” Garcia added, “Stephen Miller should lawyer up,” per the AP.
