Omar’s record and denial
Questions about Omar’s marital history have followed her career. When she ran for the Minnesota state House, she told MPR News she married Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children, in a Muslim ceremony while she remained legally married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. According to Headline USA, Elmi currently lives in England. Omar is now married to Tim Mynett, a political consultant on her 2018 congressional race, per the same report.
Omar has long denied claims that she married a sibling and has called the allegations Islamophobic.
