Nicki Minaj isn’t just dropping bars anymore — she’s talking about God. The chart-topping rapper says she has reignited her relationship with the Lord after years of drifting amid the pressures and temptations of fame. In a candid conversation at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, Minaj traced her faith back to childhood prayer with her grandmother and church attendance as a teen, admitting her career often pulled her away from genuine fellowship. Now she says reconnecting with God feels like bumping into a long-lost friend who’s always been waiting. And in a culture that often mocks faith, her public turn toward God is getting attention.
Rapper Nicki Minaj says she’s reignited her relationship with God: ‘Where’ve you been?’
Rapper Nicki Minaj opened up about her recently reignited relationship with God and what inspired her to speak out for persecuted Christians, suggesting that her rise in the music industry made it more challenging to maintain the spirituality of her youth.
Minaj participated in a conversation with Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, during Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest convention on Sunday in Phoenix, Arizona.
The 43-year-old artist, who has become a vocal advocate for persecuted Christians in recent months, especially those in Nigeria, detailed that she has recently felt pulled back to her childhood faith and pursuit of God. She said her faith journey began when she was a toddler in Trinidad. … “So, later on in my life … I started going to church in New York, and it changed everything … even as a little girl, I learned how to pray very early,” Minaj said.
“So lately I’ve been feeling like … like going back to God and praying and talking to Him … ‘Where were you and where’ve you been? I’ve been waiting on you!’” she said.
In a world where celebrities often chase controversy, Minaj’s frank discussion of faith stands out — especially as she uses her platform to highlight the plight of persecuted Christians abroad. Whatever one thinks of her music, her renewed focus on God and spiritual conviction is capturing attention and inspiring conversation.
